Pimsleur Japanese vs Rocket Japanese?

If English is your first language, then learning Japanese can be very challenging. The reason is simple - Japanese is not a Roman language, so the structure of the language and even the alphabet they use are very foreign to English speakers.

However if you use a proven language system like Pimsleur Japanese or Rocket Japanese, then you might learn to speak and even read Japanese much faster than doing it from free online course and outdated textbooks.

But which one of these two courses will work for you? Read on and I will tell you what program you must choose and why I say so…

Pimsleur Japanese Review (Digital version)

Pimsleur Digital Japanese reviewPimsleur Japanese is an audio-based language course that will teach you how to speak and understand Japanese fast. The only problem I have with Pimsleur Japanese is that they don't provide you with the English/Japanese transcripts of the lessons and their lessons are very expensive compared to Rocket Japanese. Their audio lessons are very formal, but auditory learners (30% of population) will enjoy using it. However the rest of us that consist out of visual learners (40%) and kinesthetic learners (30%) must rather use a course like Rocket Japanese that focus on all learning styles.

Pimsleur Japanese is a great audio course and that's it. You won't learn to read, or write Japanese and your grammatical education will be very limited.

Pros: Good MP3 audio lessons which will help you to speak Japanese fast.

Cons: No culture lessons, no progress tracking, no forum support, no transcripts of the lessons, no games to play, no written language lessons, and it's too expensive.

Bottom Line: Pimsleur Japanese is a good audio course for auditory learners, but if you are looking for a proven course that will teach you more than just speaking Japanese, then you'll enjoy Rocket Japanese much more.
